As an avid golf fan, attending my first in-person event, and having it be a major should have been exciting enough. But as a tech nerd, I was almost as excited to see what the PGA Championship had to offer in terms of the in-person experience. Thanks to a partnership with T-Mobile, the PGA Championship app makes attending a live golf event much more streamlined (at least based on what I've been told from others who've attended many).Tracking players on the map so you always know who's in front of you and where your favorites are playing stands out the most to me, but other features like an AI companion, grandstand seat tracker and Roar Moments that prevent you from missing impressive shots while you're on a different hole create an experience that I hope becomes the standard at professional golf events — and sports events in general. How an app became one of my favorite parts of the PGA ChampionshipWhen I decided to go to the PGA Championship, I assumed there'd be some kind of app designed to help me get around the venue. After all, a golf course is a rather large venue for a sporting event compared to an arena or even a stadium. What I didn't expect was how robust the app's features actually are and how much connectivity it would offer. In my experience, getting around the Aronimink Golf Club was smooth, as I always knew where I was, which players were near me and where I needed to go.Golfer trackingCredit: PGA Championship / Gemini editedAs dedicated a golf fan as I am, I can't tell who's on the fairway 200 yards away from me. I don't have super-powered vision, nor did I bring binoculars with me. So when I settled down into a spot, I pulled up the app, and in real-time, I could see which golfer was coming down the fairway. It helped to create a more at-home-like watching experience, even though I was at the event.Credit: FutureIf you've ever been to a live golf event, you know how hard it can be to find an open seat in any of the grandstands. You walk up and hope someone happens to be leaving their spot at that exact moment, but there rarely is.With that in mind, T-Mobile added a feature that tells you if there's any room in a particular grandstand and even lets you see a close-to-real-time photo of it, so you can see how much room there is for you (spoi...
First Time at PGA Championship: Surprises, What It's Really Like ...
Kimberly Wilson inside the T-Mobile fan suite at the PGA Championship. Kimberly Wilson i I went to my first PGA Championship in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. I was surprised by the amount of walking, the free drinks, and how fashionable the attendees were. I wasn't a huge golf fan, but now I'm sold. I should've listened to my brother sooner. Did I have attending the PGA Championship on my bingo card for 2026? Absolutely not. Was it one of the best sporting events I've ever attended? Also yes. Now, let me back up. I consider myself to be an all-around sports girl. I've been to the Super Bowl, the All-Star Game, the US Open, and countless MLB and soccer games throughout my lifetime. But me and golf? Still a learning curve there.I'd grown up watching Tiger Woods like most millennials, but that was the extent of my golf knowledge. Honestly, the sport and the culture felt out of reach.Still, my brother has spent years trying to get me interested in golf, so we trekked together to Aronimink Golf Club, the private country club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, where the PGA Championship is held annually. I had a Championship+ general admission ticket; those prices ranged from $199 to $299, depending on the day of the tournament. And as it turns out, I should have listened to him sooner. I'm officially sold on the game of golf (somewhat). Getting into Aronimink Golf Club is easier than you think. Aronimink Golf Club in Newport Square, Pennsylvania. Michael Reaves/Getty Images Unlike the Masters, getting into the PGA Championship doesn't require winning a lottery or knowing the right people. Tickets go on sale to the public, and while championship rounds sell out fast, I nabbed a general admission ticket for last Thursday, the first day of the championship, which retails for about $199.Still, if that's too steep, practice-round passes are also a genuinely affordable way in. At $79, which includes food and non-alcoholic drinks, it's also one of the better deals in major championship golf, and you still get to watch Tour pros prepare up close.Imagine my surprise that it was just that affordable. The food is free, and there's plenty of it. A view of the hospitality amenities at the PGA Championship. It's a long day, and you have to stay nourished.Championship+ ticket holders eat for free, and there are markets set up throughout the grounds...

I've always just seen it on my TV screen, so it's really exciting to be here live in person," Easton native Emily Raber said. For many people, watching Round 2 in person at Aronimink Golf Club has turned into a family affair."It's really an excellent opportunity to be able to come out and see all the great players and have the kids be able to come in and be able to be included," Tim Muntz from Wayne, Pennsylvania, said. Muntz and his friends gave their kids a break from school Friday. He says this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is worth a sick day, or as he called it, an "educational day.""A bit of a reprieve from the everyday academics," he said."I think it's really cool and it's fun because I have never really seen people play golf in real life," Olivia Muntz said.
