The deceased were identified as Devakrishna (20) of Cherai and Aadarsh (17) of Parakkadavu. According to police, the accident occurred around 2.40 am at Pulinchode Junction, when the motorcycle carrying Devakrishna and Aadarsh was hit by another bike coming from the opposite direction. Though bystanders rushed the injured to a hospital, both later succumbed to their injuries. Police said the rider of the other motorcycle has been admitted to the hospital and remains in critical condition. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway, Aluva police said. Two youths, identified as Sakaria, died on the spot, while another, Ikram, died during treatment at a local hospital. Pati Police Station In-charge Ramdas Yadav said the vehicle lost control, possibly because the driver dozed off or because the ghat road was in poor condition at night. "The car tumbled down nearly 50-60 feet. Rescue operations were challenging due to the difficult terrain and darkness," he added. The vehicle was going to a nearby village.
