The two riders and two pillion passengers who sustained injuries were admitted to the Horowpathana Divisional Hospital for treatment, where one of the cyclists later succumbed to his injuries, police said. One person was killed in a head-on crash in Saco Friday morning, according to police. Dispatchers were alerted shortly before 7 a.m. of a crash involving a car and motorcycle near 838 Portland Road. That road is also known as Route 1. A Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling northbound when the driver attempted to pass a tractor trailer truck making a right turn, according to police. The motorcycle had crossed the double yellow line and drove into the path of a Chevrolet Equinox, striking the car head-on. “The driver of the motorcycle was transported to Maine Medical Center … where they were pronounced deceased,” police stated. Police have identified the victim as Michael Petersen, 52, of Biddeford. The driver of the Equinox was transported to Maine Medical Center with injuries not considered life-threatening, police said. A section of Route 1 was closed for hours after the crash Friday morning. The crash is under investigation, police said.
