Sri Lanka Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the gruesome killing of a man in Mamadala Junction, Ambalantota, where the victim was shot, hacked to death, and his severed head placed on a statue before the attackers fled. One suspect was taken into custody by Ambalantota Police yesterday (12), while two others were arrested the same day by the Tangalle Division Crime Investigation Unit. According to the Police, all three are residents of the Ambalantota area. Investigations have revealed that the murder was carried out as an act of revenge for a triple homicide reported from the Alegoda Mamadala area on February 2, 2025. Police said the father of the victim’s wife, who was assaulted during the attack, is currently receiving inpatient treatment at Hambantota Hospital. Ambalantota Police have launched an investigation into an incident in which one person was killed and another was seriously injured in the Bokutuyaya area of Mamadala South, Ambalantota. Sri Lanka Latest News According to police, the deceased is a 34-year-old father of three, while the injured person is his wife’s father. Reports indicate that three individuals had arrived at the deceased’s residence with the intention of killing him. Following the attack, the deceased’s head was severed from the body and smashed against a statue at the Mamadala junction. Police further stated that the deceased had been a suspect in a triple murder case reported from the Alegoda area of Ambalantota. He had been released on bail on March 30 after being held in remand custody. Investigations have revealed that the killing was carried out as an act of revenge for that previous murder incident. Police have also recovered a locally-made firearm, believed to have been brought by the attackers, which was found abandoned at the scene. Ambalantota Police are continuing further investigations into the incident.
