May 2, 2026 at 10:13 AM The final rites of Lance Corporal A.P. Mariyalujisan of the Sri Lanka Army Engineer Services, were conducted with full military honours on Friday (01) in Kilinochchi. The soldier, attached to the 12 (V) Engineer Services Regiment of the Sri Lanka Army Engineer Services, succumbed to injuries sustained in a train accident in Murikandy on April 19. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital following the accident but later died while receiving treatment. Mariyalujisan had joined the Sri Lanka Army on June 01, 2014. Senior officers, fellow servicemen, relatives and residents attended the funeral to pay their final respects. (Newswire) 2026-05-02
