The 15 Best Costco Foods Under $20 That Feel Like They Should ... - Mashed
Jetcityimage/Getty Images Everyone loves a good deal, which is why warehouse stores like Costco are thriving in today's dicey economy. It's hard to resist highly marked-down prices, but sometimes, you really need to contemplate each purchase due to its size. Buying in bulk doesn't always make sense when you go through something slowly or have a small household. Some Costco foods taste better than your homemade favorites, while others miss the mark. When the stakes are so high, it's nerve-racking to branch out and try new items. How can you be sure that you'll love something enough to commit to a seemingly endless supply? If you're striving to be a savvier shopper, you can learn how to best take advantage of Costco's bulk pricing without stuffing your kitchen to the gills. Read on to discover 15 products that are $20 or less, with a value that feels like they should cost $50. To simplify things, every item will be rounded up to the nearest dollar to account for price variations nationwide. Methodology Iv-olga/Shutterstock For this hunt, I dug around Costco's website within the grocery categories. I selected the filter for products that ranged from $0 to $25. Costco's site can be a bit tricky because some of the products don't immediately show a price. To find it, you have to click on the product, then click on another link that takes you to Instacart. Afterward, you can see a price that's a bit inflated compared to in-store costs. I weaned out all of the sneaky products that passed our $20 limit. I used the word "around" while citing prices because your mileage will vary based on where you live, and products found through Instacart will always have an upcharge. My prices are based on Charlotte, North Carolina. For products I haven't personally tried and can vouch for, I relied on customer reviews on Costco's website. 1. Kirkland Signature Breakfast Sandwich for around $18 We've all been there: You hit snooze one too many times and have to rush out the door without a proper breakfast. With so many fast food chains beckoning on the drive to work, you bargain with yourself to justify spending an extra five minutes in the drive-thru (or longer if you're unlucky). Desperate times call for desperate measures, so you end up spending $5 or more for a little breakfast sandwich. Sure, whipping up some fluffy scrambled eggs and whole wheat toast is the healthier and more cost-effective option, but some folks just don't have the time, energy, or desire to do so i...
I'm a Costco executive member who hates cooking, but loves a ... - DNyuz
I’ve been shopping at Costco my whole life, and there are some products I’ll always add to my cart. Annmarie Gajdos I’ve been shopping at Costco for as long as I can remember. As a child, I loved trying the samples and getting a smiley face drawn on my receipt at the exit. I even begged my parents to let me have my Sweet 16 there — an idea that was quickly vetoed, unfortunately. Now an executive member in my 20s, I shop for myself and my sister, who lives with me. Neither of us enjoys cooking, and with busy careers, we usually don’t have the time to make elaborate meals, anyway. Instead, we rely on Costco’s prepared foods and easy staples that fit into our grab-and-go lifestyle. I don’t leave the warehouse without buying a rotisserie chicken. caption Annmarie Gajdos Costco’s rotisserie chicken is, in my opinion, the store’s ultimate classic product. It’s fresh, flavorful, and under $5. A single rotisserie chicken can last me several meals. Immediately after buying one, I’ll debone it and use the meat in sandwiches, wraps, or quesadillas. My favorite snack is Don Miguel’s chicken chipotle mini tacos. caption Annmarie Gajdos Don Miguel’s chicken chipotle mini tacos are a snack I eat constantly. I’ll just pop them in the microwave or air fryer and enjoy them within minutes. A pack comes with 50 tacos, and although they’re small, they go a long way — usually, one pack will last me a month. They’re also the perfect easy snack for football season, when my sister and I host watch parties at our house. I grew up growing raspberries in my yard, so I always stock up on a Driscoll’s box. caption Annmarie Gajdos A trip to Costco is incomplete without a box (or two) of Driscoll’s raspberries. My sister and I love to eat these with a little whipped cream, often while watching “Real Housewives.” Bel Gioioso mozzarella has a slice of my heart. caption Annmarie Gajdos In my house, cheese is a must. I add these ready-to-serve mozzarella slices to salads or soups when I want to feel a little gourmet. Sometimes, I’ll even run to the fridge just to snack on some mozzarella in between meetings. I love buying Kirkland Signature’s Atlantic salmon for Friday night dinners. caption Annmarie Gajdos Growing up in a Slovak Eastern Orthodox household, my sister and I have never eaten red meat on Fridays for religious reasons — so, salmon is one of our go-to Friday dinners. I’ll also toss it into salads during the week. This is the most expensive item on our shopping list, but I find K...
