The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) has reported one fatality due to the adverse weather conditions currently affecting parts of Sri Lanka. The victim was identified as a 64-year-old resident of the Divulapitiya Divisional Secretariat Division in the Gampaha District, who was swept away by strong currents yesterday (22). According to the DMC, a total of 7,757 individuals from 1,966 families have been affected by the ongoing disaster situation. Of them, 201 individuals have been relocated to six safety centres. The DMC further stated that residents in 20 Divisional Secretariat Divisions across four districts have been impacted by the severe weather conditions. In addition, 123 houses have sustained partial damage, while two houses have been completely destroyed. Meanwhile, the highest rainfall recorded during the past 24 hours was reported from the Attanagalla Divisional Secretariat Division, which received 137.80 mm of rainfall.
