Properties of Mahindananda Foundation handed over to Railway Department

The government has not taken any decision to remove Treasury Secretary Dr Harshana Suriyapperuma from his position, according to Nihal Abeysinghe, General Secretary of the National People’s Power. He stated that there have been no internal discussions within the government regarding his removal. He made these remarks when queried about the government’s position on calls by opposition and other groups to remove the Treasury Secretary over an incident in which USD 2.5 million paid by the Treasury to Australia was allegedly obtained by a group of computer hackers. He has also requested that the matter be treated as an urgent motion and referred to the Parliamentary Committee on Ethics and Privileges for examination and appropriate recommendations. Jayasekara further alleged that by failing to report the incident to Parliament, the Treasury Secretary had violated the Constitution, parliamentary procedures, and Standing Orders...
