The firm says more than 90% of its US employees use AI weekly. Employees say there is pressure to use AI, but that the dashboard is easy to manipulate. The gamification of AI adoption is here. KPMG told Business Insider it has introduced a dashboard for its US advisory division — where KPMG recently laid off 400 employees — that lets employees track how often they use AI. It shows their use compared to their target goal and to their peer group. The firm said it hopes the dashboard, which came online late last year, encourages more "frequent and sophisticated" AI use among the division's 10,000 workers."Our data shows regular AI users produce higher-quality work, feel less stressed, and spend more time on strategic work," Russ Grote, a spokesperson for the firm, told Business Insider. "These benefits help people progress faster in their careers. They can also better serve our clients who are going through their own transformation programs."KPMG says more than 90% of its US employees use AI weekly. Business Insider reviewed screenshots of KPMG's dashboard and spoke about it with two employees, who asked that their names not be used because they did not have permission to speak to the media. These employees said that while the dashboard is designed to incentivize AI adoption, it's easy to manipulate and may not accurately reflect the true extent of AI use in their day-to-day work.AI dashboards for everyoneSince the start of the AI frenzy, consulting firms have raced to track the rate of AI adoption — and the potential returns. Some have relied on daily usage metrics while others have pored over spreadsheets to calculate the potential boost in profits.Consulting isn't the only place this is happening. As companies face increasing pressure to show returns on AI, these kinds of dashboards are popping up everywhere.JPMorgan, for example, recently told developers in its 65,000-person tech division to use AI to improve the code they produce — and is tracking that progress with i...

AI to ROI Reports & Data: KPMG's Global AI Pulse Q1-26

KPMG’s Global AI Pulse Q1-26 report serves as the inaugural edition of a quarterly series released by KPMG International. This study examines how large organizations move from initial adoption toward enterprise orchestration. The report is authored by senior AI leaders, including Steve Chase, the Global Head of AI and Digital Innovation. It also features analysis from regional leads Priya Emmanuel for the Americas, Benedikt Höck for EMEA, and Simon Benson for ASPAC.The methodology involves a comprehensive survey of 2,110 C-suite and senior business executives. Participants represent organizations with annual revenues of at least $100 million across 20 global jurisdictions. The study identifies a distinct performance gap between companies that simply deploy tools and those that operate AI as an integrated enterprise system. This research aims to track where leaders find friction and how they turn investment into measurable advantage. The research shows that AI is scaling rapidly across the enterprise:While 95% of organizations report having a formal AI strategy, only 8% have established a return on investment. This gap highlights a significant challenge in translating high levels of activity into quantifiable outcomes.Organizations plan to invest an average of $186 million over the next year to address these goals.A small group comprising 11% of organizations has emerged as AI leaders:These leaders stand out by fundamentally redesigning how the enterprise operates. They integrate AI into workflows and decision-making rather than layering technology on top of legacy structures.Leading firms also prioritize revenue growth and human-AI collaboration over simple cost reduction.By contrast, non-leaders tend to focus on structural efficiency and productivity-focused automation.Execution remains the primary bottleneck for most surveyed companies:Common barriers to scaling include data privacy concerns (42%) and cybersecurity (42%).Other significant constraints include data quality (34%) and regulatory uncertainty (31%).Leaders overcome these issues by embedding governance directly into system design rather than applying it as an afterthought. This approach allows them to manage risk at scale while maintaining execution speed. The data reveals a widening gap in enterprise performance across different global regions:The Americas lead in deployment maturity, with 35% of organizations reporting enterprise-scale scaling. This compares to 23% in ASPAC and 22% in EMEA.Executiv...
