The Seven Kitchen Trends for 2026 That Interior Designers are Obsessing ...
On Our RadarDusky red stone, ceramic tile countertops, and sinks big enough to bathe in are reshaping the most-used room in the houseApril 22, 2026Kitchen trends in 2026 are pulling in opposite directions—toward the monumental and the hidden, the traditional and the high-tech. From six-foot sinks to faucets that dispense sparkling water on demand, the best ideas of the year marry form and function.Sinks Strrrretch OutWhether it’s a little get-together or full-on party, everybody eventually gravitates to the kitchen—and there never seems to be enough room at the sink. Until now. Workstation sinks have never been more popular, or longer. Kohler recently introduced the Synthos Workstation, a modular system of undermount basins and multi-level ledges in sizes that range up to a full six feet long.Kohler's Synthos sink can be outfitted with multiple faucets and accessories As the brand demonstrated at the most recent KBIS, a mega workstation sink propped out with serving boards, ice, and beverages can anchor an impressive buffet or bar. “As cooking and entertaining increasingly overlap, the sink becomes more than a cleanup zone,” says Michael Seum, Vice President of Industrial Design at Kohler. Athena Calderone’s airy Brooklyn townhouse kitchen swathed in Calacatta Paonazzo marble may go down in history as our era’s peak grey-and-white moment. But as readers of AD’s April issue know, the tastemaker went in a darker, moodier direction for her apartment in Manhattan, anchoring her kitchen with an island of dusky red Kinnekulle limestone.
