An early, limited leak around Google’s upcoming Pixel 11 series offers some limited details around the Tensor G6 chipset inside, with a mix of good news and bad news. Mystic Leaks today posted an addendum to the recent Pixel 11 Pro Fold wallpaper leak. The animated video variants we mentioned in our coverage are now available through this latest leak, which also reiterates those “Lunar Tides” and “Tidal Swirl” names. But the comments reveal some far more tantalizing details. The leaker posted a strategically cut-off image that reveals a couple of key details about the Tensor G6 chipset in the Pixel 11 series. As far as the GPU goes, Tensor G6 isn’t looking all that much better than Tensor G5, with an Imagination/PowerVR C-Series CXTP-48-1536 GPU. This appeared in some previous leaks, and it’s still an outdated GPU that dates back to 2021. It’s unclear if Google is perhaps using a newer variant, but it’s an outdated setup nonetheless, and one that’s sure to rub enthusiasts the wrong way. That said, the CPU upgrades look promising. While the specific core setup is obfuscated, Tensor G6 is apparently using at least one ARM C1 Ultra core at 4.11GHz, four C1-Pro cores at 3.38GHz, and two more C1-Pro cores at 2.65GHz. ARM introduced its C1 cores in the second half of 2025 and they’re also used in MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chipset. Tensor G5 is built on a 1+5+2 setup, using Cortex-X4, Cortex-A725, and Cortex-A520. So, just looking at the CPU cores themselves, Tensor G6 is potentially off to a great start. The C1-Pro cores are more powerful than the A725 cores, and even the lower-clocked cores will provide more power than the A520 (which are comparable to C1-Nano cores that Google is not using). Prior reporting (from before ARM introduced new branding) suggested a 1+6 setup, which would point to Google using just one C1-Ultra core. That report had also mentioned better power efficiency from the GPU. We’ll have to wait for more details to come in, of course, especially as there’s information in the screenshot that’s redacted. The post does mention the “Cubs,” “Grizzly,” and “Kodiak” codenames of the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, and Pixel 11 Pro XL, respectively. And, this unfortunate trend appears all set to continue with the upcoming Tensor G6 SoC, which is quite likely to sport a GPU that launched all the way back in 2021! A new leak indicates that the Google Tensor G6 chip will sport the PowerVR CXT-48-1536 GPU that debuted in 2021 As our readers would be well aware, we had ripped into Google a few months back for using generations-old ARM CPU cores within the Tensor G5 chip. Thankfully, as per recent leaks, Google has decided to use the latest (for now) ARM C1 Ultra and C1 Pro CPU cores within the upcoming Tensor G6 chip, with the lone big core clocked at 4.11GHz. Even so, unlike the octa-core architecture of its predecessor, the upcoming Tensor G6 SoC appears to be settling on a 7-core architecture in a 1+4+2 format. We can presume this regression is driven by a cost-related expediency. However, the latest tidbit is proving to be much harder to digest. A source that contributes to the Mystic Leaks Telegram channel, and cited by Android Authority, is now out with the scoop that the Google Tensor G6 chip will sport the PowerVR CXT-48-1536 GPU that launched all the way back in 2021. Apparently, Google is banking on a 5-year-old GPU in its weird obsession to minimize the die size for the Tensor G6 chip, hoping that the NPU will pick up some of the slack, especially when it comes to AI workloads. We have no doubt that this weird choice will help Google preserve its margins, particularly as DRAM costs continue to escalate. However, in what is extremely unfortunate, Pixel 11 series buyers are being taken for a ride here. Thankfully, the upcoming SoC will launch with the new Titan M3 security chip.
