Mother of police officer granted bail following arrest for narcotic ...
The Horana Magistrate's Court ordered the release of a woman on surety bail of Rs. 200,000 yesterday (11) after she was allegedly found in possession of 15 grams of Kush. The Walana Central Anti-Corruption Task Force apprehended the woman on the 9th in the Kumbuka area of Moragahahena, where she reportedly attempted to use her son’s status as a Police Inspector to shield her activities.Police informed the court that 15 grams of Kush were discovered in her possession during the raid. The operation was conducted based on information received by Chief Inspector Indika Weerasinghe, Station Clerk of the Walana Anti-Corruption Task Force, suggesting a house in Kumbuka functioned as a drug distribution centre.Reports indicate the suspect strongly opposed the house search when the police team arrived, attempting to obstruct officers by claiming her son is a Police Inspector serving in Colombo. However, a female officer from the Walana unit conducted a search and recovered the narcotics.Investigations revealed that a local drug trafficker used the residence as a safe house, believing it would avoid police scrutiny due to the owner's son being a police officer.
