Police Media Spokesman Assistant Superintendent of Police F.U. Wootler said the search was carried out under a warrant issued by the Kesbewa Magistrate’s Court. During the operation, police recovered one live hand grenade, two T-56 magazines, 221 rounds of live T-56 ammunition, 103 rounds of .22 calibre ammunition, 31 rounds of live 84S ammunition, and one 12-bore firearm that had been issued for a cultivation land belonging to the former MP. Following the search, the former parliamentarian was taken into police custody. The suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Kesbewa Magistrate’s Court today (April 16), while further investigations are being conducted by the Colombo Crimes Division.
