9 moments you might have missed at the 2026 Miami Grand Prix - Formula 1

Miami never does things by halves, and the 2026 race weekend was no exception. The energy off track matched the action on it across a weekend that delivered everything you'd expect from one of the most vibrant stops on the calendar. There was plenty of on-track drama for the fourth round of the season in Miami, with World Champion Lando Norris back to winning ways in the Sprint, an epic record-breaking drive from Kimi Antonelli to extend his lead at the top of the standings after securing his third pole-to-win in a row, and plenty of shocks and last lap chaos. But those weren’t the only stories from the Grand Prix weekend – so here are some off-track moments you should know about...Messi magic in Miami Lionel Messi was undoubtedly among the most high-profile guests of the weekend, spending time around the Mercedes garage where his kids collected photos and autographs from Antonelli and George Russell. But who do you think was more starstruck – Messi's children meeting the Mercedes duo, or Antonelli and Russell coming face to face with the greatest footballer of all time?Messi also found time to meet fellow Argentinian Franco Colapinto ahead of Sunday's race – and for the Alpine man, it might not have even been the highlight of a brilliant week. Just days after his stunning show run through the streets of Buenos Aires, Colapinto delivered some epic qualifying results and drove to his best-ever Grand Prix finish with seventh place. Not many people can say they’ve had a better week, right? The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner even stuck around to congratulate Antonelli and Colapinto on their fantastic achievements, capping off a perfect weekend for the pair! Safe to say they won’t be forgetting this day for a long time...Home race celebrations For any team, there are few feelings better than a home race – and for American teams Cadillac and Haas, Miami is the first of three this season, with Austin and Las Vegas still to come. For Cadillac, this was an extra special weekend as it is their first-ever home race weekend and they celebrated in style! In addition to a US-themed livery and Miami-themed driver helmets, the team enjoyed plenty of activations over the duration of the weekend. They also had an electric fan HQ nearby that kept their supporters entertained throughout the whole weekend, with driver appearances, car displays, simulators, cocktails, and even visits from ambassador Terry Crews. The celebrations peaked on Saturday night, when Sergio Perez took to ...

I Went To My First Formula 1 Race—Here's What Surprised Me Most About ...

It was a sweltering MiamiSaturday when I entered the gates of my first Formula 1 race. The excitement for the day’s sprint race was palpable, live DJ sets from Marshmello and DJ Diesel (Shaquille O’Neal’s alter ego) were playing on the Jumbotrons around the Miami International Autodrome, and nearly everyone was decked out in their favorite driver’s colors. As I ventured further into the various activations around the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prixtrack, I quickly learned how fun and overwhelming (in a good way) my first Formula 1 weekend would be. There was so much to see and do that even over two full days, it would be nearly impossible to do everything and watch the races, though I did attempt to make it to every section of the grounds. But even as I made a list of things I wanted to do, and studied the Miami Grand Prix map, there were still some things that surprised me about the overall experience during the Formula 1 weekend in South Florida. Keep reading to find out the four things that surprised me most about the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix. I Loved How Family-Friendly The Race Weekend Really WasFormula 1 race simulators at the Miami Grand Prix.Megan duBoisI was truly surprised at how family-friendly the entire race experience was. Throughout the weekend at the track, I saw families with young kids decked out in their favorite driver’s gear, older adults enjoying the festive atmosphere, and everything in between. Between races, there was always something to do, from enjoying different foods and treats to pretending you were an F1 driver with simulator games and more. And even if you didn’t actually make it to the Miami International Autodrome, there were pop-ups all around the city, from hotels with F1 cars in the lobby to fan zones like the Official Fan Fest at the beach and the Racing Fan Fest in Wynwood, both of which are free for anyone to attend.
