iOS 27's 'completely rebuilt' Siri will include a new system-wide ...

With just a few weeks left until WWDC, Bloomberg has shared multiple details on what Apple has in store for the revamped, Google Gemini-powered Siri on iOS 27. Here are the details. ’An always-on agent that can tap into personal data and take action across apps’ Over the past few months, Bloomberg has been reporting on several aspects and changes coming to the Gemini-powered, always-on, agentic Siri on iOS 27. That includes reports saying this year’s WWDC artwork is based on Siri’s new animation, that Siri would also appear in the Dynamic Island with options to “Search or Ask” when activated from the power button or via the wake word, and that Apple is finally planning a standalone Siri app with a chatbot-like conversational interface, complete with uploads, history, and pins. Now, Mark Gurman has shared even more details on what users can expect from the revamped Siri, building on his previous reporting. The report also includes new information about an upcoming upgrade to the Camera app and system-wide improvements to Liquid Glass. According to Gurman, iOS 27 will feature a new gesture that will allow users to invoke a system-wide “Search or Ask” feature, with an option to tap a microphone icon to activate voice mode. From there, users will be able to “press the search bar to toggle between using Siri or third-party offerings like ChatGPT or Gemini as their search engine.” From the report: Users can also activate a new system search by swiping down from the top center of the screen anywhere. When a user does that, a “Search or Ask” bar in the Dynamic Island will appear. The report adds that this interface is similar to the current Spotlight Search feature on iOS, but that it “can show more advanced results and additional data from within apps.” In his report, Gurman also notes that Apple will make it easy to upload images and documents to Siri via the app and the chatbot view, using a “+” button. Finally, the report notes that users will be able to move from a standard Siri interaction into this chatbot-like conversation mode by swiping down on the transparent results card that appears after invoking the assistant: When users engage with Siri, they can swipe a transparent results card down to enter into a chatbot conversation mode, which looks similar to a text message thread. This interface has in-line mini app cards to see results for things like the weather, upcoming appointments and notes. To read Bloomberg’s full report, follow this link...

iOS 27 features: A smarter Siri, new AI options and more coming with ...

We’re less than a month away from WWDC 2026, which means we’ll soon get a look at what’s coming with iOS 27 when it launches this fall. Apple's big developers conference will take place on June 9, and we’re expecting to see a preview of smarter Siri features when we get a glimpse of the new interface. The biggest change? Siri will be more of a conversational AI agent like Gemini and ChatGPT. That means it'll be able to complete tasks and will be more integrated into your iPhone and other Apple devices. But there are a slew of other Siri changes — including a new look — that we'll get into below. While you wait for the release of iOS 27, we can tell you what you'll get when you download Apple's newest update, iOS 26.5, which just became available. It has several smaller updates — including changes to Maps and RCS encryption. We'll keep this story updated as more details about what's coming with iOS 27 come to light. What we're expecting with iOS 27 so fariOS 27 is where you'll find the Siri overhaul this year. Here's what we know so far.Smarter, chatbot SiriiOS 27 will include a chatbot version of ‌Siri‌ that will operate similarly to ChatGPT, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. That means Siri will be better at holding a conversation — through voice and text — rather than simply answering questions and commands. "The goal is to transform the technology from a traditional voice assistant into a systemwide AI agent with deep integration across applications," Gurman said.Google Gemini will power SiriApple will be using Google's Gemini AI to power a more personalized Siri, the two companies said in a joint statement in January. "Apple determined that Google's Al technology provides the most capable foundation for Apple Foundation Models and is excited about the innovative new experiences it will unlock for Apple users," they said at the time. So while Apple isn't totally outsourcing its AI smarts to Google, it does appear that Google's Gemini AI will provide the backbone for the next generation of Apple Intelligence, and presumably the new Siri as well. You can choose which AI system to useInstead of only having the option to use Siri, Gurman says you’ll be able to select from other AI services like Gemini, ChatGPT or Claude. This will work for Apple Intelligence features like Writing Tools and Image Playground.Siri will have its own appSiri is getting a standalone app with the iOS 27 update, per Gurman's report.
